Let’s Get Fit!

In order to take care of others, you must first take care of yourself! This is why the Escondido Jaycees are committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Fitness Chair, Beth Roti, is passionate about healthy lifestyle choices.

Fitness Challenges

Who doesn’t love a Challenge? Beth came up with the idea of a Fitness Challenge in order to encourage a healthy dose of competition while working on achieving our health and fitness goals.  We had so much fun with the first one in February that we decided to do it again in May! Each person set their own 5 daily goals and were awarded 10 points for each of those goals achieved each day. The person with the most points by the end of the month wins a prize!

Here are examples from our  Fitness Challenge:

We are all winners at the end of the challenge since we are healthier just for having participated but Rachel Sturz was crowned winner of our February Fitness Challenge and Stephanie Chow won our May Fitness Challenge! Rachel received a very nice Hydroflask water bottle as a prize. Rachel was very involved in the challenge. She shared many paleo-inspired recipes within the Challenge Facebook group and encouraged everyone with her healthy eating habits and suggestions. Stephanie wowed us with her commitment to her gym routine. That woman can lift! Congrats to both of our winners!

The Great Outdoors

We enjoy exploring the scenic parts of San Diego, which is why we try to get out for hikes every few months. We try to choose easy to moderate hikes that everyone can enjoy. People are welcome to bring their pups too!

In the past we’ve hiked Daley Ranch and Highland Valley trail. Our most recent hike was a 4 mile hike at Blue Sky Ecological Reserve up to Poway Lake on Saturday February 26!
