Health & Fitness

Let’s Get Fit!

In order to take care of others, you must first take care of yourself! This is why the Escondido Jaycees are committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Fitness Chair, Beth Roti, is passionate about healthy lifestyle choices.

Fitness Challenges

Who doesn’t love a Challenge? Beth came up with the idea of a Fitness Challenge in order to encourage a healthy dose of competition while working on achieving our health and fitness goals.

We are about to start our third fitness challenge of the year. If you want in on the fun, join the Facebook group! This time our Fitness Challenge is being led by Health Coach Rachel Sturz. She will be meeting with each participant individually and setting personalized goals.

Here are examples from our Fitness Challenges from earlier this year:

October 8 – Cooking Class with Rachel Sturz

If you aren’t ready to commit to a whole month of healthy eating, join us for a healthy cooking class with our own Health Coach Rachel Sturz. Rachel has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and is currently working toward a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner Certification through the Nutritional Therapy Association.

She will be showing us how to turn a normally unhealthy meal into a healthy, yet still delicious, meal using healthy substitutes.

Stay tuned to our Facebook page HERE where we will be posting an event for sign us. Make sure to RSVP so we know that you are coming or if you don’t have Facebook, shoot us an email at

The Great Outdoors

We enjoy exploring the scenic parts of San Diego, which is why we try to get out for hikes every few months. We try to choose easy to moderate hikes that everyone can enjoy. People are welcome to bring their pups too!

In the past we’ve hiked Daley Ranch and Highland Valley trail. Our most recent hike was a 4 mile hike at Blue Sky Ecological Reserve up to Poway Lake on Saturday February 26!

February 26, 2017 – 4 mile hike at Blue Sky Ecological Reserve

June 12, 2016 – 5 mile hike at Daley Ranch
